Review an AI video interview
When a candidate finishes an AI video interview, Scout writes a plain-language read of it and lines it up with the recording. Everything with a time on it jumps the video to that moment, so you can check any point for yourself.
Before you start
- A candidate has taken a video interview. See Send an AI video interview.
Open the review#
Open the candidate on the job and click Watch in their Video interview box. The review page shows the job and candidate at the top, with Download recording, Not now (back to the candidate) and, on a manual job, a Move to button for the next stage.
Start with “Our read”#
Our read is the short answer: a Match with this job score from 0 to 100 on the same scale as other scores (Weak under 50, Possible 50–69, Good 70–84, Strong 85 and up), cards for what the job needs, how well they explain things, and the interview itself, and what to ask if you talk to them again. See How scores and fit bands work.
- “Scoring the interview”: the report appears in a minute or two.
- “The report didn't come through”: click Try again.
- “Not scored”: too little was said to score. The recording is kept.
Watch the recording#
The player plays the camera, the screen and both voices together. Switch between Screen + camera, Camera and Screen, and change the speed. Beside it, Where the job's needs came up puts each must-have on its own lane, with a dot wherever it came up (partly or clearly shown); tap a dot to hear that moment.
Technical words in this interview, in plain English explains any jargon that was said, for reviewers who aren’t technical.
Read the conversation#
What was said, and what it tells you is the transcript split by topic, with each note beside the line it comes from. Filter the notes to Everything, Strong points, Worries, Job needs or Resume checks, and tap a time to play it.
Things the job needs that never came up are listed on their own: “Not a sign they can't — we just don't know yet.”
How the interview was taken#
This card lists facts about the session: that the candidate verified with a code sent to the email they applied with, whether the camera stayed on and the screen stayed shared, and whether they left the interview tab or had connection trouble, each with the time so you can check it.
If the candidate left feedback at the end, it shows here too.
Download the recording#
Click Download recording to get the files. Each link works for an hour, and downloads are recorded with your name.
How long recordings are kept#
Video interview recordings are deleted automatically after the workspace’s retention period. The candidate is told this period before they agree to be recorded. The transcript and the report stay after the recordings go.
Candidates can ask for their recordings to be deleted sooner. You’re told in Scout and by email, and an admin can delete them. See Send an AI video interview.
