Sign-in and access problems
Find the message you see below, then follow its fix. None of these problems lock your account: waiting or a fresh link is usually all it takes.
“Your email isn’t verified yet”#
You need to verify your email before you can sign in. Scout says Email Not Verified, and under the password the sign-in page shows Resend verification email.
Click Resend verification email.
Open the newest email from Scout and click its link within 24 hours.
ResultThe page says Email verified. You can sign in now.
A link is invalid or has expired#
| Link | How long it works | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Verify your email | 24 hours | Sign in and use Resend verification email. |
| Reset your password | 1 hour, newest link only | Use Forgot password? on the sign-in page to get a new link. |
| Join a workspace (invitation) | 7 days | Ask an admin of that workspace to invite you again. |
An invitation link that has expired, or was already used, shows Invalid Invitation. A link that arrived cut off says This link is incomplete: ask whoever invited you to send a fresh one.
“Too many attempts”#
After several tries in a short time, Scout pauses sign-in and similar actions, and says how long to wait, for example “Too many attempts. Try again in 3 minutes.” (Scout calls this Rate Limited.) Your account isn’t locked or changed. Wait, then try again.
Your password isn’t accepted#
- Check the email is the one you signed up with, then use Forgot password? to set a new password.
- Passwords must be 10 to 128 characters.
- Resetting or changing your password signs you out on your other devices.
You lost your authenticator app#
If you turned on two-step sign-in, Scout asks for a code after your password.
On the code screen, click Use a recovery code.
Type one of the recovery codes you saved when you set it up, then click Verify.
ResultYou’re signed in. Each code works once, so set up your authenticator again straight away.
If you have no recovery codes left, ask for help from the contact page. See also Sign in and secure your account.
“Scout is invite-only right now”#
During the pilot, you can only create an account from the sign-up link Scout emails you after your pilot application is accepted, or from an invitation to a workspace. Click Apply for the pilot to apply. See Get access to Scout.
- Signup Invite Only: this email has no accepted pilot application. Apply, or use the exact email your sign-up link was sent to.
- Pilot Link Used: the pilot sign-up link already created an account. Click Sign in instead.
“You don’t have access to this”#
Some pages are for admins only, such as Billing. A member who opens one sees this page; click Back to dashboard. Other admin tasks, such as ATS connections, phone numbers, the team, workflows and workspace settings, are hidden or read-only for members, and an action Scout refuses for your role shows Permission Denied.
If you need that access, ask an admin of your workspace to do it, or to make you an admin. See Roles and permissions.
“Your session ended”#
Scout signs you out after a while, or when you sign out everywhere or change your password. Sign in again, and Scout returns you to the page you were on.
